Notes

A decanter reduced to almost nothing and the better for it, a heavy rounded body of clear glass, a short collared neck, and a single dense dome of glass dropped in as a stopper. No cutting, no colour, no pattern, just proportion and weight and the way light moves through clean metal. This is the Scandinavian way of thinking about a decanter, where the object is meant to be quiet and faultless rather than decorated.

It rings as crystal when struck, the confirmation the glass earns rather than claims. Nothing names a maker in the usual places, so it stays unsigned, in the Danish and Swedish manner rather than tied to one bench, carried by the uncommon squat shape and the clarity of the metal.

Like all lead crystal of its time, it is best kept for display and occasional serving rather than the long-term storage of drink.
