Reno, Nevada, USA, mid-20th century
Jacqueline Titus, signed lower right
Oil on canvas
53 x 43 cm (framed)
Framed by KOBK in Australian hardwood
Every KOBK object is one of one and carries its age honestly. Expect marks, wear and patina as part of the piece; any specific fault is noted above. Where an object is photographed on a stand, the stand is included.
Notes
A plain, resolved portrait: hard light, a lifted hand, a red headscarf, no fuss. It has the look of work made by someone who painted seriously and long enough for the image to simplify, which is usually a sign of a real practice rather than a hobby.
The painting is signed lower right by Jacqueline Titus and comes with a Reno, Nevada history. Beyond that we are deliberately holding back. Biographical detail has circulated about an artist of this name, but we have not been able to confirm it from a reliable source, and we would rather present the picture on its own terms than repeat a story we cannot stand behind. If solid information surfaces, we will add it.
