Every Edwardian parlour had a tall stand like this, holding an aspidistra or a fern up where the light was, back when a pot plant was a small statement of respectability. This is one of those, a light colonial pine stand, most likely kauri, with an octagonal top over three splayed reeded legs and a little turned dish on a lower tier for a second pot or a jug.

It came in dark and tired and has been sanded back and refinished to a warm honey pine, so the grain reads again, and it comes with the hanging pot shown. Maker unknown, as these workaday stands nearly always are, and honest about its age in the old screw holes and handling marks. A tall, useful, quietly handsome thing for a plant or a lamp.
