As a potter the name does not trace, but Melbourne holds one all the same: Minka Wolman, a journalist who in 1944 married the tonalist painter Hayward Veal, of the Meldrum school, and left with him for Europe in 1951. Whether the hand that signed this pot is hers or simply shares her name, we cannot say.
